The latest in the aliens are amongst us craze... or at least 40 light years distant has recently come to light and despite all the political weirdness managed to break through the news cycles to filter into our consciousness.
The recently announced star system TRAPPIST-1 contains 7 Venus and Earth-sized planets in orbit around the star. Three of those planets lie in the Goldilocks zone - not too hot, hot too cold. Given the noted presence of water these planets could support life as we know life to be. Orbital periods range from a dizzying 1.5 days to a leisurely 20 days. Imagine how old you’d be and how quickly you’d celebrate solar returns.
Where in the universe is this new enigmatic star system? Its current position is approximately 15 Pisces 57. A ton of data regarding various orbital factors of the various planets and more can be found on a plethora of online resources. So let’s put this in perspective. As of the date of writing, February 26, there are in our extra-solar planet database: 3,584 planets / 2,688 planetary systems / 603 multiple planet systems.
We’ve come a long way since the first planet around another viable star was announced back in 1995. Actually in 1992 we realized that planets orbit other objects in the Universe with the announcement that the pulsar, PSR1257, held three planets in its grasp. This did not hit mainstream consciousness because a pulsar cannot, according to our understanding, support life.
The first star with a planet was announced on 6 October 1995. 51 Pegasus (51 Peg b), located at 24 Pisces 31 on the zodiacal dial, came to our attention as the first confirmed planet in orbit around a star other than our own. With 70 sextillion stars out there, this should not have been a shocker, but it did jar traditional thought in philosophical and theological circles.
Since 1995 several planets have been discovered that could presumably support life as we know it. TRAPPIST-1 captures our imagination because of its several planets that could support life in one single star system, and it’s not that far away in the cosmic scheme of things. Even though we recently learned of a planet within our nearest star system, the collective imagination seems to be more stirred by the realization of TRAPPIST-1.
Curiously, TRAPPIST-1 and 51 Peg reside in the second half of Pisces. Pisces the ruler of things far and wide, universal consciousness and so far out there it’s hard to track, seems the perfect location for star systems inspiring collective awe. Can this announcement inspire the majority of humans to look up and wonder? To feel a sense of Universal awe? That’s the way Pisces would have it.
Chiron presently passes between these Piscean players revealing profoundly expansive cosmic truths intent on healing. Currently, he nears 51 Peg, where he passes by in the next weeks, then hovers back for another looksee come December.
Chiron’s Pisces placement offers antidotes to Eris by noting that this is one big Universe in which more unknowns than knowns dominate our speculations... and each and every person is subject to those influences whether they believe they are or know they are.
The vastness of space can be daunting. The unlimitedness of it all can be befuddling. The uncertainty of the Cosmos mystifying. The darkness (including Cold Dark Matter) foreboding.
Chiron seeks to sooth. In Pisces, he aspires to assuage uncertainty, calm fears, stabilize the spirit by reenforcing its richest creative essence, provoke the soul to find its greatest depths, and to seek applications for all aspirations... all in a timely manner.
Even cantankerous Eris, who despises rejection, dismissal, a lack of inclusion can be assured by Chiron’s current influence to extrasolar systems that:
There’s a lot more out there.
No doubt we are not alone.
Our world is connected with all other worlds in ways we cannot fully conceive.
Each individual as a distinctive life form is connected with each and every other distinctive life form, from those existing on our planet to all other worlds in the entirety of Creation.
We’re all in the Cosmic cauldron of consciousness together.
Can this be reassuring? Sure. If taken to heart with the recollection that Chiron’s intent is to heal that which feels untreatable and that which feels as if it will persist until the end of days.
Chiron’s prescription: 4X per day. Find the confident core of your spirit. Focus to feel that you are part of the Infinite. Put forth all your creative and soulful excellence into it as you step forward your infinitely best foot. Pisces does rule feet, after all.
